Scan to Me

Scan to Me turns your iPhone or iPad into a destination for the Scan to Computer button of your network all-in-one printer. Press Scan on the printer, pick your phone from the list, and the pages arrive over Wi-Fi as a PDF or as JPEG images.

No cables, no cloud, no account. Scans go straight from the printer to your device.

How to use it

  1. Open Scan to Me, go to Printers and tap +. Pick your printer from the list, or enter its IP address. The first time, allow Local Network access when iOS asks.
  2. In Settings, choose the name shown on the printer, the format, the resolution and the folder to save into.
  3. On the Listen tab, tap Start listening. Your printer shows “Ready”.
  4. On the printer: Scan > Computer > your phone’s name > Start. For a multi-page PDF, answer “scan another page” on the printer, then choose Done. With paper in the document feeder, the whole stack becomes one PDF.

Your phone appears on the printer only while Scan to Me is open and listening: iOS does not let apps listen in the background. The screen stays on while listening.

Troubleshooting

  • The printer says no computer was found. Start listening in the app before opening the Scan menu on the printer, and check that the printer shows “Ready” in the app.
  • No printer found when adding one. In iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network, allow Scan to Me. Or add the printer by its IP address (shown in the printer’s network settings).
  • Something else. On the Listen tab, the magnifier icon opens the activity log; the Copy button puts it on the clipboard. Send it with your question.
